October 24-25th, 2020

Greetings from your Secretary Generals,

Delegates, Chairs, and Advisors,

The Secretary Generals of Interconnected Model United Nations would like to formally invite you all to the first iteration of IntrcMUN. IntrcMUN will be held from October 24-25, 2020 with 2 zones and 6 committees. The current pandemic has halted plans for many Model UN conferences. The many restrictions and regulations for the safety of the students have prevented many conferences from operating in person, but this saw a rise in online conferences, and IntrcMUN is proud to be a part of this new world of Model UN.

Many people seem to speak of the coronavirus situation with a negative connotation, but we believe they're missing out on the positive side of things. Ever since the people of the world went under quarantine, the Earth has been slowly healing itself. The water in Venice has cleared up, the marine life in Italy has returned, the deers in Japan are roaming the cities, China's pollution rate has gone down to their lowest yet amongst many other amazing events.

Months before this pandemic, climate change was a heated topic with a discussion that went in circles and nowhere. The coronavirus itself may not be the answer to solving climate change, but the immediate effects of it are- and it's all with the start of the absence of humans. Turns out the answer to climate change was simpler than we thought; to solve climate change, the solution only requires the absence of humans and their activities.

In terms of Model UN, one could see the restriction of many in person conferences as a negative thing, but in the silver lining of this all is that conferences have gone more international than ever. With organising and attending an online conference, the limitation of travelling, finances, and scheduling is lifted. Although the feeling of being present at an in person conference is one of the thrilling reasons for participating in Model UN, the magic and beauty of Model UN transcends the online scene as well.

But one thing we hope for as we all endure this unprecedented time, is to come out of this as better people, and as a better society as a whole. Model UN may seem like a mere extracurricular activity, but an individual can come out of these conferences with a better mindset, a better outlook on life, and more awareness on the societal issues in our current generation.

We are the future, and this conference is excited to provide this platform for you to grow into the best you can be. We look forward to meeting you all.
