THE SECRETARIAT

6 Countries, 8 Schools, and 8 Secretariat Members

Tehsin Hsieh

Secretary General

Admist the pandemic, where physical contact are limited, the world of Model UN conferences did a 180 degree flip. With less opportunities for conferences to be hosted in person, conferences have started going online. Tehsin saw this as an opportunity for Model UN to grow, allowing students to attend more conference from the comfort of one's home.

To tell you all about himself, Tehsin will be serving as this year's Secretary General. He has been in Model United Nations for 4 years now, and has gone to over 16 conferences based in various countries around the world. This would be his 4th time being a part of the secretariat team of any Model UN conference. Tehsin aspires to work in the medical field when he grows up, and has been a dream of his since he was young. Tehsin looks forward to all the delegates who will be attending the conference, and is excited to watch the discussion in the various committees IntrcMUN has provided.

Ethan Yang

Director General

To Ethan Yang (he/him/his), it is both an honor and privilege to serve as the Director-General for the first-ever Interconnected Model United Nations (intrcMUN) conference, taking place online in the midst of an unprecedented global crisis. Through the eyes of a delegate, committee president, and Secretariat team leader, Ethan has grown both personally and professionally in his past five years doing Model United Nations, having worked with students of all ages and MUN program directors across the globe. As a current Secretary-General for Online Model United Nations, and Under Secretary-General of Online Debates for MUN@Home, the world of Online MUN empowers Ethan to continue pursuing one of his greatest passions even during the Coronavirus pandemic.

With an open heart and an open mind, Ethan is incredibly excited to welcome you to an engaging and revolutionary conference experience, regardless of your prior experience participating in Online MUN. Through the intrcMUN experience, Ethan hopes that participants can learn to become confident public speakers and leaders engaged in current issues, and discover the impact that can be made to the world through diplomacy and negotiation. When Ethan isn't organizing MUN conferences or mentoring younger students, Ethan is an avid aviation enthusiast and enjoys traveling around the world. Having grown up in a democratic island nation known for its progressive values, Taiwan's unique heritage has helped shape Ethan's international perspective as an open-minded global citizen.

Megan Kong

Deputy Secretary General of Conference

Megan is currently a 17 year old student pursuing her IB diploma at St. Paul's Co-educational College in Hong Kong. She has been to over 20 local & overseas conferences. She is more than honoured to serve as the Deputy Secretary General of Conference for IntrcMUN, and she hopes that everyone can enjoy this conference. She can't wait to see all of the participants gathering together and exploring their interests and passion. Outside MUN, she is a science student, and she also works for organizations in different fields such as Citizen Enlightened and Medicine Encompassed. Apart from MUN and science, she is also very interested in music, especially for vocal arts.

Weiyu Lin

Deputy Secretary General of Outreach

Weiyu Lin is currently residing in Taiwan and was fortunate enough to be there when the pandemic started. He grew up in the flemish part of Belgium where he was immersed in a culturally diverse environment. Weiyu is a rising sophomore at the International Bilingual School at Tainan-Science-Park. His hobbies include volleyball, futsal, swimming, debating, reading, binge watching Netflix and MUN. He is well versed in many languages such as Dutch, English or Chinese. He has been part of MUN for the last two years and is also one of the leading officers at his school's MUN club. He has attended many in-person conferences throughout Taiwan and a handful on the internet.

Thaleia Antoniou

Under Secretary General of Academics

An MUN and debate enthusiast, Thaleia Antoniou, a Greek 16 year old, has participated in 7 MUN conferences the past two years as a delegate and is ambitious to participate in more in the future, potentially at a higher position. She is attending her first year of IB the academic year of 2020-2021, with a major focus in biomedical and business studies. She loves nothing more than a cup of coffee and a heated debate on an interesting topic, thus, being the Under Secretary General of Academics for our conference, she will be in charge of ensuring a high level of academic debate at the conference. This means that she will be revising the rules of procedure, finalising study guides for each committee and be a general point of contact between the secretariat and chairs. Her first virtual MUN experience was this April, when she really enjoyed herself and has tried to find even more ever since. Thaleia is currently organising her own virtual MUN, VAMUN. As she has had some bad past MUN experiences, she is hoping that this one will be a memorable and enjoyable experience for you all!

Maya Mathur

Under Secretary General of Administration

Maya Mathur is a sixteen year old, born and raised between Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok, where she currently resides. Her MUN career began 3 years ago, and she has now attended over 15 conferences as a delegate, and a few more as a parliamentarian / chairperson. She is one of her school's MUN club leaders, and recently organised an international virtual conference.

Since April, when lockdown began here in Thailand, Maya has spent her time between university research, stressing out for her IGCSE results, interning briefly for a finance company, and pursuing her hobbies, which include cooking and catching up with her family via Zoom. She sincerely hopes that this conference is everything the delegates want it to be, and will do her utmost to achieve this, along with the rest of the secretariat.

Sylvia Chan

Head of Communication

Salutations, delegates and curious onlookers! Sylvia Chan is a fourteen year old who currently resides in the illustrious city of Hong Kong, with interests such as piano, reading, and watching netflix, as well as public speaking and debate. She aims to study abroad in the UK for university. Ever since being introduced to the wonderful word of debate and MUN by the school, she has participated as a delegate in 6 conferences, some of them online and international, such as this one, and chaired a fantasy council based in the Percy Jackson universe.

Since lockdown, Sylvia Chan has been looking for opportunities such as this one to further develop public speaking skills and friendly relationships with fellow delegates. She has participated in online conferences held abroad since the beginning of social distancing. In this conference, she will be serving as Head of Communication in INTRCMUN, and hopes every participant will be able to gain something, be it experience or friendships, from this conference.

Mina Nair

Head of Marketing

Mina Nair is a junior at Bellarmine Preparatory School in Tacoma, Washington and joined Model UN at the beginning of her freshman year and quickly fell in love. Outside of MUN, she's seen in the Robotics Lab, Marine Chemistry lab, tennis courts, or experimenting with different dishes in the kitchen. In her free time, she's doing goofy stuff with her friends, and you can always find her with her laboriously sticker decorated Hydroflask. However, MUN takes up the majority of her time but it's well worth it. She loves it because every delegate affects solutions and has the ability to create change in the world. Furthermore, representing countries with entirely different opinions and laws, that are out of the ordinary, is an excellent way to look at issues differently. Model UN is truly an eye-opener to the world around you. She cannot wait to see the debate and ideas you all come up with and hopes you have a both educational and amazing IntrcMUN 2020.
