United Nations Security Council

The United Nations Security Council is one of the main bodies in the United Nations. It is often seen as the pinnacle of all the committees because the council discusses crucial issues regarding world security in addition to the fact that the council is allowed to create law-binding resolutions. Another unique aspect of this council is the five permanent positions with ten non-permanent members elected every two years. Most issues discussed are regarding the implementation of international sanctions, deployment of peacekeeping missions, and dispatching military operations.

Meet The Dais

Daniel Lin | Head Chair

Daniel Lin is a sophomore studying at International Bilingual School at Tainan Science Park. As an avid Model UN enthusiast, he has participated in a total of 8 MUN conferences, both in-person and online, local and international. His experience, passion, and ambition have allowed him to become successful in his school club, becoming the lead student officer by his sophomore year and also becoming an Under-Secretary-General for an international online conference. Not only does he enjoy MUN, but he also a successful debater as a member of the national reserve debate team for Taiwan. Being capable of not just reciting a chairing script, Daniel is an apt individual, who is more than happy to help delegates conceptualize and analyze the problems and solutions in MUN.

Rahul Razdan | Deputy Chair

Rahul Razdan is from Singapore and attends the Singapore American School, he has been an avid MUN delegate since day one. As a delegate and judge, he's been to numerous MUN conferences, while also maintaining leadership roles in MUN within his school. He's also had experience with organizing MUN conferences as well as mock debates for newer delegates. Rahul's hope is that anyone, despite this being their first or last conference, can try their best and speak as much as possible. He is very excited about this conference and can not wait to see what the delegates have to offer!

Stephen Chu | Associate Chair

Stephen Chu is currently a freshman studying in the International Bilingual School at Tainan Science Park in Taiwan. He grew up in the city of Wichita in Kansas, USA, and is grateful to have moved to Taiwan, the safe haven of the pandemic.

He has been involved with Model UN for two years, and this year will be his third. He has attended a few international conferences and many local ones as well. When he isn't devoting his time to MUN, he is likely scrolling through his phone and laughing at dumb memes. Jokes aside, his hobbies include volleyball, futsal, debate, and binging shows. Lastly, he is incredibly grateful to serve as the associate chair in Security Council, and he can't wait to see all the delegates.
